"Never again - see above or again here: The entrance to the site alone seemed very unkempt and uninviting. The reception looked as if the site had been abandoned for at least 10 years. There is a toilet trailer which is quite clean. The washroom and kitchen were very dated and not really foreseeable. There are a lot of permanent campers and obviously no value is placed on short-term campers. The view of the site would be totally beautiful and idyllic if it were well maintained and certainly also because it has a nice swimming pool next to it. Unfortunately, investments would have to be made. We left after an hour and a half.

"Hot weekend in a dilapidated square - If you read what I wrote under the negative points, there's not much left to say. For people who have no problems with loud music and partying, it's certainly not a problem. For everyone else, I'm afraid I have to say... Look for another place.

"Stopover with a desire to repeat - Cozy little place in the countryside Friendly reception, uncomplicated handling. Sanitary facilities are currently being renovated. Pitch by a small pond with swimming pool next door.

"Friendly campsite near the Kyffhäuser mountain - Small campsite near Nordhausen in the north of Thuringia. Large pitches for tourist campers. Relaxed, informal atmosphere including morning bread roll service (order via WhatsApp, delivery directly to the tent!). The site is located by a pond with an adjacent, well-maintained outdoor pool. It is not possible to swim in the pond itself, but it is full of fish. Anglers are allowed to fish past the permanent campers' pitches right up to the shore. Contact with other anglers is quickly established. There are many excursion destinations in the area. The monkey forest in Straußberg and the huge model train exhibition in Wiehe are particularly recommended for children. The Kyffhäuser Monument and the Barbarossa Cave are also worth a visit. Both can be visited in one day. You can also spend many enjoyable hours on horseback at the riding stables in neighboring Wollersleben. The Nordhausen gravel pits are home to one of the clearest lakes in Germany, ideal for diving and learning to dive. There is no kiosk on the campsite. However, you can shop in the supermarkets in the surrounding villages and especially in the "tegut" supermarket. The best grilled sausages are available from the butcher in Nohra. The campsite's sanitary facilities are so-so, but are due to be completely renovated in winter 2019. The waste disposal behind the reception is in need of renovation. After the harvest at the end of August, strong odors from the field must be expected. The adjacent country road is sometimes audible, but quiet in the evening at the latest. Overall, the site is worth a visit and lives from its friendly atmosphere, the large pitches, a hard-working groundskeeper and the really nice permanent campers. The price/performance ratio is still right here. I give it 3 stars, for 4 stars the infrastructure should be a little better.

"Very nice little place - Great little place with absolutely friendly staff! Not overcrowded, you can stand wherever you want.

The Campingplatz Am Hünstein is idyllically located at the Hainleite hills in the beautiful Wipper Valley in northern Thuringia. Surrounded by green landscapes, rolling hills, and plenty of nature, the campsite offers ideal conditions for a relaxing camping holiday away …from the hustle and bustle. Right next to the campsite, there is an outdoor swimming pool with a boating pond, providing refreshment and variety especially during the summer months. The campsite is open all year round and offers spacious pitches for motorhomes, caravans, and tents. Electricity connections are available, as well as well-maintained sanitary facilities with hot and cold showers, washbasins, and toilets. In addition, there is a motorhome service station, toilet disposal facilities, a washing machine, and a tumble dryer. Gas bottle exchange and gas sales including TÜV service are also part of the campsite’s services. Children can enjoy a playground, and guests also have access to a table tennis table and boat rental. Dogs are welcome on the campsite but must be kept on a leash. The surrounding area invites guests to enjoy a wide range of leisure activities. Hiking and cycling trails lead directly through the Hainleite landscape, characterized by forests, meadows, and peaceful natural surroundings. Shopping facilities and restaurants can be found about one kilometer away. Thanks to its convenient location, excursions to the Harz mountains as well as to nearby cities such as Nordhausen or Erfurt are easily possible.

Vägbeskrivning

You can reach Campingplatz Am Hünstein via the A38. Coming from Kassel/Göttingen, take exit Bleicherode; from Halle/Leipzig, take exit Werther, both towards Wipperdorf/Sondershausen. Follow the brown signposts with the campsite symbol and, at the Hünstein junction, the yellow sign “Hünstein”.
